The national data opt allows patients to register an ‘opt out’ from their personal identifiable data being used for purposes beyond their individual treatment and care.

The national data opt is now live and all organisations will need to have a process in place to exclude all of those patients with a registered opt out when embarking on sharing data locally.

To do this in Emis please see instructions from NHS Digital on EMIS NOW which includes instructions and guidance on how to run reports that exclude patients who have a registered National Data Opt Out.
